Steadily running 10k at least five times per week and enjoying it
After 7 years of running on minimalistic shoes, I decided to slow down a little in exchange for higher mileage and frequency, going from 20 miles (32 km) to 35 miles per week (56 km). The first few runs were kind of challenging as I immediately felt the weight of the shoes (compared to Merrell Trail Gloves and Vibram 5 Fingers)...but after easily being able to run beyond the 4 mile mark (6.4 km) while maintaining a decent pace and my feet not feeling tired, I just kept going farther and only stopping because I need time to shower, eat breakfast and get ready for work. After one month, I logged 150 miles (240 km)...now moving towards month # 2 and they keep feeling great, especially now that it’s colder in the East Coast. On days that I have minimum time for run, I can still push hard and run 5K in about 20 - 22 minutes without being afraid of pulling my calves or getting injured. As I just entered my 40s, I think the Cloud Flyer Water Proof is making me feel like if I’m as fast as I was in my 30s but I can run farther and better while enjoying the miles I log on them. I love the color and style, hope On comes up with a Black/Grey only Cloud Flyer (like the all black Cloud) for the hot summer months, as I think these ones (water proof version) are good for fall, winter and early spring, not so sure about the hot and humid months of the US East Coast.
