Join the R/O/C Crew in 2022

The R/O/C Crew is made up of a diverse group of athletes. From photographers and outdoor adventurers to professional athletes and nutritionists, these people are passionate about one thing: running. You might have heard of them before - they used to be the On Run Crew - but for 2022, they’re getting a new name and you can join them. Let’s meet the R/O/C Crew.

The On official support squad, the R/O/C Crew, is on a mission to wear, share and experience the very heart of the On spirit, helping introduce On at local events and to local communities.

They are an ever-growing, all-inclusive global community of runners, explorers, athletes and superfans. They’re passionate about running. And we’re looking for people like you to join them and become On ambassadors.

But before you scroll down and apply, let’s find out what it’s really like to be part of the R/O/C from some of the crew.

Hanniel Hu, Germany

How would you describe the R/O/C Crew using just three words?

Party, Peace and Pace.

How did you get into running?

When I made plans for my first half marathon in 2019, I didn't quite know what to expect. Getting into running seems so easy - simply put on your shoes and you are ready to go! But when wind and weather keep you from training, or you've just had a long day at work, it can get tough. Nowadays, I have a team behind me. A team full of motivation, maybe with different goals, but all with a passion for running. And that's why it's not just about a training session or another run, but about the sport as a team and the support as a community.

How did you and the R/O/C Crew adapt during the pandemic?

The pandemic was a challenge, but was great to see how the R/O/C Crew created magical moments to still bring everyone together. Personally, as a photographer and runner, I also tried to get to know other people’s home running routes and capture them with my camera. Not only did I get to know my city better, but I was also able to connect with new friends.

“A team full of motivation, maybe with different goals, but all with a passion for running. And that's why it's not just about a training session or another run, but about the sport as a team and the support as a community.”

What’s the best part about being an On ambassador?

As part of the R/O/C Crew, you don't just show off a logo. You are an active part of the running community - at events and on social media. I am super grateful that I was able get to know the R/O/C  and run together with new friends despite the pandemic. Next year, I will go to the starting line with them more often, for sure.

Favorite On shoe and piece of apparel? Why?

The Cloudultra definitely was my surprise-shoe-of-the-year. With less road races and correspondingly fewer running goals, I ventured more into nature. With the Cloudultras - even as an asphalt addict - I had an incredibly easy time on longer runs through the forest and trails. I still handle elevation gain not too well though.

My favorite piece of apparel is the Weather Jacket. I was surprised how light it is and, as someone who sweats a lot, it is perfect to regulate the heat without having to carry a lot of stuff with me.

Karolina Tomaszewska, Canada

Why should somebody be part of the R/O/C Crew?

It's a great way to be inspired by others but also to give back to your own community. It's a very supportive crew in person and online. The gear is fantastic and very motivating for all sorts of athletic endeavors.

Being an On ambassador means you get to know people from around that world who share the same passions as you. Each ambassador has a personalized approach to running, training and it is such an asset to be part of that community and add to the discourse. I'm always learning and being inspired by what others are up to.

How do you use your position in the R/O/C Crew to bring people together?

As part of the On Running pop up in Toronto, I curated a street-art run for all levels of runners from various communities with the idea of urban exploration in our own backyard. It was structured in such a way that there were built-in stops and points of interest that made it less intimidating for a newer runner, and interesting enough to keep a seasoned runner engaged. For a lot of people it was their first group run since the pandemic and there was really a sense of optimism and excitement abound that was truly energizing.

How would you describe the R/O/C Crew using just three words?

Inspiring, innovative, enthusiastic.

How did you start running?

Knowing of my adventurous spirit and enthusiasm for activities, a friend asked me to join a team of women (#NousBruce Project) that would take on the entirety of the Bruce Trail (Canada’s oldest and longest marked footpath) as a relay team. I hadn’t run much other than as part of a CrossFit workout and so took it as a challenge to get up to speed with running by learning from others. All of a sudden I joined various running groups and found myself running several times a week.

Favorite On shoe and piece of apparel? Why?

I truly live in the Cloud X because of its versatility. I use it for social runs, standing and dancing for hours as part of Cheer Squad when a race is on, walking my dog around the block, a gym workout and anything in between really. I'm slowly trying to collect all the colors of this shoe for maximum outfit versatility.  Also, because I'm in Canada, it feels like I live in the Weather Jacket for 9 out 12 months. It's great for rain, wind, tumultuous snow, and works great when all three are combined too!

Mathilde Petitjean, France

“Being part of the R/O/C Crew is a great adventure that allows you to meet people with different backgrounds who share your passion for running.”

Fun fact about yourself?

I am the first female athlete from West Africa to take part in the Winter Olympics (Sochi 2014).

How did the R/O/C Crew stay motivated during lockdown?

We started doing virtual races, which allowed us to continue to challenge ourselves. Especially the squad race!

What’s the best part about being an On ambassador?

It’s being a member of this great innovative family that designs and develops exceptional products in line with its values and its time.

Favorite On shoe and piece of apparel? Why?

In shoes, it’s the Cloudboom Echo. This shoe looks soft with its pure and chic colors. But once worn it becomes fearsome. It's light and responsive and always brings me back to running on the forefoot, all without effort. It is exactly the kind of running I like to do: performance.

The Sprinter Shorts are a must-have for my sportswear wardrobe. The length is perfect (not too short). I like that they sit high on the waist, which gives a feeling of comfort and support. They’re also very efficient and practical with all their pockets (which are perfect for storing your phone). I can't wait for them to be available in more colors.

Favorite pre / post run meal?

Pre run I eat an almond yogurt with chopped banana sprinkled with cocoa powder. Afterwards? Literally anything I can get my hands on!

Lucca Blum, Switzerland

How did you start running?

When I was little I always ran around in the garden, playing catch. Even back then I enjoyed running a lot. I remember my first city run in my hometown very well. The joy of running was the highest of feelings for me. Years later I joined a youth club. I am still very connected with those people and they became my second family.

What’s the best part about being an On ambassador?

Being an On ambassador fills me with pride and joy. It’s an opportunity to experience and share beautiful moments together with the R/O/C Crew. Together we discover Switzerland while running.

“The R/O/C Crew are a bunch of cool and openminded people. Everyone easily fits in, which creates a great atmosphere. There’s never ever a dull moment with us!”

Fun fact about yourself?

I would rather run 10km barefoot than eat coriander.

Favorite On shoe and piece of apparel? Why?

The Cloudstratus is my absolute favorite shoe. Double cushioning, but still aggressive and with good forward pressure. Long and fast runs are a breeze with this shoe. When it comes to apparel, my favorite piece is the Performance Long-T. It’s light and super comfortable while running and really cozy afterwards

“The R/O/C is a family of athletes from all levels that want to become better versions of themselves. The goals may differ but the community support does not.”

How would you describe the R/O/C Crew using just three words?

Helpful. Adventurous. Goal-getters.

How did you and the R/O/C Crew adapt during the pandemic?

I think we all became influencers on social media a little more to respect the distance but still maintain our relationship with interested friends. I personally did more trail running this year than I have my entire life due to race availability and just the urge to get out and explore.

Fun fact about yourself?

My race/finish line celebrations are pretty epic! For some reason, I find just enough energy to celebrate when in pain with moves I have never really practiced before. Knowing how to dance doesn't hurt here!

Favorite On shoe and piece of apparel? Why?

Definitely the Cloudstratus and Cloudboom Echo. Cloudstratus is one of my favorite all-around shoes for training and support due to the cushioning response and wider platform. The Cloudboom Echos are so smooth for racing. The Cloudultra and Cloudflash are close runners-up though.

Favorite apparel item would definitely have to be my Anorak Jacket for its outdoor use and the Hybrid Shorts - I actually use the inside liner as short tights for races.

Any dream run you'd love to complete someday?

Dream run would have to include Berlin Marathon, Kona Ironman Triathlon, and Boston but more for the amateur/pro 5k and/or 1 mile for the thrill of throwing down the hammer with some elites!

Abbi (Milner) Hamlin, USA

How would you describe the R/O/C Crew using just three words?

Inspiring. Encouraging. Awesome.

Why should somebody be part of the R/O/C Crew?

R/O/C Crew is more than a brand ambassador program, it is a community, a family, and a group of people that motivate one another to be better.

How do you use your position to bring people together?

As an On Ambassador, it really gives you the opportunity to bring up conversation with people, and bring together even complete strangers. I enjoy bringing people together through the running group I am apart of, and through the fitness classes that I teach.

Favorite On shoe and piece of apparel? Why?

I love the Cloudultra and the Sprinter Shorts because both are so comfy! The Cloudultra keep my feet happy, whether it's a short tempo run or a long day in the mountains. The Sprinter Shorts are flattering, comfortable and they don't ride down as I run.

Any dream run you'd love to complete someday?

I would love to go run in the Swiss Alps. I feel so connected with myself and nature when I am in the mountains, and the Alps seem like the most majestic and humbling place in the world.

Fede Spinetta, Austria

Fun fact about yourself?

I was born in Argentina, part of my family comes from Italy and the rest from Spain. In 2016 I moved with my wife to Berlin and after 4 years we moved again to Innsbruck. That's what I call an international background.

How would you describe the On Run Crew using just three words?

Performance, community, passion

Why should somebody be part of the R/O/C Crew?

Because it enables you to pursue your passion with a great team behind you. The level of support we receive goes beyond the awesome gear we get, we know there's an honest and caring team behind us that would do whatever they can to empower us. The R/O/C Crew makes any challenge feasible no matter how crazy it sounds.

Favorite On shoe and piece of apparel? Why?

My favorite On Shoe has to be the new Cloudboom Echo. They are surprisingly cushioned on the front for a light and fast shoe. Another thing I love about them is the push I get while running fast paces. This extra help motivates me to push harder on my speed intervals.

A top pick in apparel for me is the Trail Breaker. It's so functional and well designed that it has become my go-to for every run during chilly days. The attention to detail is amazing. It keeps your chest protected from the wind while your back and inner side of the elbows are well ventilated.

What’s your current goal?

A personal goal is my social project where I raise funds and awareness for young triathletes in Latin America. Many young talents are forced to give up their promising sports careers due to a lack of opportunities and financial support, I am committed to do something about it.

How would you describe the On Run Crew using just three words?

Inspiring, positive and Exciting!

How did you and the R/O/C Crew adapt during the pandemic?

What a time to be alive! Everyone in the R/O/C Crew got creative with social media challenges and they were a lot of fun. With all races canceled and some going virtual, the motivation changed for a lot of us. For me especially, it went from following a training plan, to just going out and hitting the trails with no agenda. It was an amazing change of pace. I enjoyed it a lot more in a different way.

How did you start running?

After spending years in what were some of my darkest times in my life, a friend suggested I start hiking. That turned into running back down mountains when the sun was going down, which turned into trail running. Then someone talked me into running a Cirque Series Race and I never looked back. It was through running and being active that I regained confidence, made life-long friends and learned to live with a new disability.

Favorite pre / post run meal?

I love a good cup of coffee with pastries before a run and Tacos after of course!

Favorite On shoe and piece of apparel? Why?

When I’m on the road I absolutely love the Cloudboom. The feedback I get is unlike any other shoe I have tried and super lightweight. When I hit the trails I have been enjoying the Cloudultra, keeps my feet happy for long days out in the mountains.

As far as apparel goes, it’s hard to pick just one but what first comes to mind is the Comfort Long T. It’s super comfortable and makes me feel good, especially after a long day out adventuring.

Why should somebody be part of the R/O/C Crew?

You get to be surrounded by a group of inspiring people and represent a brand that is making a positive contribution the right way.
