On-Track to the Ice Track: German Sprint Champion Alexandra Burghardt Takes on Bobsleigh

Olympic sprinter and On athlete Alexandra Burghardt takes her talents to new realms, joining fellow Olympian Mariama Jamanka on the bobsleigh track.

Best known for being Germany’s fastest woman at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the Munich-based sprinting champion demonstrates the On spirit of fearlessness and innovation by pivoting to a new sport and pushing her limits.

Taking place six months after the Tokyo Summer Games where she ran in the Women’s 100m and 4x100 Relay, Burghardt hopes to compete again at the Beijing Winter Games – but this time in Two-woman Bobsleigh. The expectations are high for Burghardt and Jamanka, with Jamanka having secured gold at the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

To help her perform her best throughout her upcoming competitions, Burghardt will be wearing our exclusive shoe designed specifically for professional bobsleigh and skeleton athletes.

Burghardt and Jamanka will be competing at the Winterberg World Cup at 9:00 am and 10:30 am on Sunday, December 12, 2021 and 10:00 am and 11:30 on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the Altenberg World Cup.

When not competing across the globe, Alexandra is dedicated to keeping fit – both mentally and psychically – with the Bavarian capital as her backdrop. Discover the routine that allows her to perform at her best on the world stage in our new Munich City Guide.
