“What’s in your pack?” It’s an interesting question really. Do you know everything that is currently stowed away in the bag you always grab on your way out the door? Well, we posed the question to On athletes and community members, getting an inside look into their everyday essentials.
From AirPods for training to vital snacks (we recommend Katie’s trick of never leaving the chocolate behind to avoid being hangry) and a harmonica, we found out all the weird and wonderful items these seven keep in their On Packs.
Not only did we uncover what our athletes and community need in their day-to-day lives, but also items which inspire them. From memories of personal bests to injury recovery, this Q&A will leave you questioning “What is in my pack?”.

What are your daily essentials at the moment?
Since we have to stay home as much as possible, I only leave the house for training, where I bring my hand sanitizer. For training, I always bring my On Pack which stores everything I need. I grab my AirPods to listen to some music, a hairbrush, some hairties and my favorite perfume. Besides that, I bring my wallet because you never know! And since it’s only Spring here in Europe, I always grab my Weather Jacket.
Which item in your pack is the most inspiring to you and why?
This might sound silly, but probably my stopwatch. It inspires me to see my workouts on there and how I am improving. Hard work pays off!
If you opened your pack and found one pair of Ons, which would they be?
The Cloudflash, the On shoes I wear the most.
Tell us your favorite memory with this pair of shoes?
My favorite memory with the Cloudflash was probably this years’ training camp in Potchefstroom (South Africa). I wore them for most of my training sessions. There, I made lots of improvements and had an amazing time. I still see some South African dirt on them, and when I look at these shoes I see myself running, super happy, on the track in Potchefstroom.
What are your daily essentials at the moment?
Right now my daily essentials are coffee, chocolate, my kindle, laptop, recipe notebook, On Hoodie, sunglasses and my favorite On shoes.
What is one item you never take out your pack?
Definitely the chocolate or any other good snacks. Wouldn't want to get hangry (that's hungry + angry)!
Tell us more about our recipe notebook?
My cooking notebook is filled with some of my favorite recipes I've picked up over the years. It has things like some of my mom's soups and a friend's cherry-spelt vegan scone recipe, plus plenty of cookie ideas. Only the best of the best get recorded here so it's for sure an inspiring page-turner.
If you opened your pack and found one pair of Ons, which would they be?
The Cloudflow! They are great for just about everything. I wear them for track workouts, road runs and also long walks.

What are your daily essentials at the moment?
My current daily essentials are my On Waterproof Anorak, my On Weather Shirt, binoculars, a hat, sunglasses, a local topomap, my harmonica, a foam roller, my laptop and a bar in case I suddenly feel hungry.
What do you feel when you think about your topomap?
I’m passionate about maps. I love exploring. It gives me new ideas for moving around in my local playground. I draw lines with my fingers and imagine myself running there.
If you opened your pack and found one pair of Ons, which would they be?
I’d be super happy to find a pair of the Cloud X, I love the design and lightness. I was running a 10k recently – my first road marathon this winter – in the Cloud X. As a trail runner, running on the road is quite uncommon, but I really enjoyed it – it allowed me to get some speedy workouts in and see things differently. I set my PR in both distances, so I like the Cloud X!
What are your daily essentials at the moment?
Water! I drink SO much water. My strawberry lemonade collagen mix. My Apple AirPods to listen podcasts for multiple daily dog walks! A scrunchie to pull my hair back. My On shoes to slip on for workouts and walks. Sparkling water. My 5-minute journal. My iPad for working and my Hulu shows, and kindle!
Tell us more about your 5-min journal?
My 5-min journal helps me to practice gratitude daily and is a great reminder of my blessings.
What’s your favorite thing to do in your Ons?
Dog walks and workouts are my favorite in them!

What are your daily essentials at the moment?
With hygiene at the top of everyone’s list right now, hand sanitizer is definitely one of my daily essentials. I also can’t live without my Powerbeats pro headphones; they help me escape into my workout and destress. Lastly, my running shoes (the Cloud), they are – hands down – the most comfortable shoe I own and I have been living in them lately.
If you opened your pack and found one pair of Ons, which would they be?
The Cloud X, they are the perfect mix of comfort and stability. I’ll throw on the Cloud X if I am taking a 5-mile run through the neighborhood or completing a HIIT circuit. They perform no matter what type of workout I am doing.
I had ACL reconstruction surgery my junior year of college due to an injury from playing collegiate soccer, and my knee has always given me pain when I run on the treadmill. From the very first time I ran with Cloud X until now, I no longer have pain!
Which item in your pack is the most inspiring to you and why?
My most-inspiring item is my headphones. They allow me to pipe in whatever genre of music my mood needs. They allow me to listen to an uplifting podcast or hear my yoga instructor's guides to breathing techniques. They're an escape when we can't really 'escape' at the moment.
If you opened your pack and found one pair of Ons, which would they be?
The Cloudflow for sure! Whether I'm going out for 1 mile or for 10, my feet are happiest in them. They fit my foot like a glove and have helped combat knee and hip pain I use to experience on long runs.
Tell us your favorite memory with this pair of shoes?
My favorite memory has to be hitting 1,000 miles in one calendar year in them!
Lauren Fields
What is one item you never take out your pack?
Sunscreen! Gotta protect your skin at all times.
Tell us your favorite thing to do in your Ons?
I love the Cloud for walking around the city. I’ve walked all through NYC with these shoes going from meetings, to workout classes and more. I wear them every Sunday morning when my husband and I go for a walk with our French bulldog to get coffee, a tradition!
