This shoe saved the day!!
I was recently training for the 2016 SF 1/2 marathon with some difficulty. A foot injury combined with competitive dancing had left me unable to wear the same brand of shoes I had previously raced in a couple of years ago, and I never imagined it could be so difficult to find the right shoe for my body mechanics. I was excited to get back to running, but in the 2 months prior to my event, I went through 3 pairs of shoes and still could not comfortably complete greater than 10 miles by the week prior to my race. My calf strain was so bad that I was only getting 1 training run in per week and I hoped to still finish. I had researched this brand on-line and I really liked the design concept, but didn't seek them out in a nearby store due to time constraints with the upcoming race.
I finally (by chance) saw the shoes in person at the Expo on the day prior to my race. I am a sports Chiropractor and have been in practice for nearly 20 years. I have made numerous sets of custom casted orthotics for patients and I understand biomechanical issues. So when I inspected the design of this shoe in great detail and tried them on my foot, I was sold. I then proceeded to run an entire race the next morning in a shoe I had never worn before, which is something I would have *never* considered if my other options hadn't failed me so miserably and I was simply out of time to try anything else. I tried the shoe on once and immediately knew that my prospects had just gotten better.
I finished. No calf pain. No strain. Minimal muscle soreness. No blisters, wear on my heels or hot spots. No exaggerated pronation/supination, and no knee pain. I ran comfortably for 13.1 miles without any pain after not being able to complete my last few weeks of training runs. Thank you for designing a shoe that provides light stability for pronation but still has a neutral foot bed, can accommodate an orthotic without over-correction, has plenty of room in the toe box and just enough forefoot to rear-foot differential that it encourages proper foot strike without fatiguing the calf muscles. BRAVO!!! Thanks a million.
