On joins forces with the Penn Relays

You really can’t talk relays without mentioning the Penn Relays. The oldest track meet in the world, it’s the ultimate test of teamwork. So, we’re super-proud to announce that On is now the official footwear and apparel sponsor of this iconic event.

The Penn Relays. Where do you even begin? It’s the perfect example of igniting the human spirit through movement and community. And it’s an event some of us at On have a very personal connection to, as a few of our North America team are Penn Relays alumni. Which perhaps explains why we’re so excited to be an official partner!

"When the opportunity to partner with the Penn Relays became a possibility, we were ecstatic! So many On employees participated in and even won events at the Penn Relays during their competitive careers in the sport. So, to partner with Penn and inspire future generations of runners is an opportunity we couldn't pass up.” Steve DeKoker, Global Sports Marketing Manager, On

Since its inception in 1895, Penn Relays has seen athletes from all across the globe come together to compete. In the decades since, Franklin Field has hosted some of the biggest stars in track & field – from Jesse Owens and Roger Bannister to Willye White and Allyson Felix. Even Usain Bolt has laced up his spikes and picked up a baton.

This year, some of our OAC athletes will be taking their place alongside those great names. Joe, George, Ollie and Jonas will take to the track in the 4x1 mile, while Sage will compete in the 800 m, and Carmela and Alicia will both run in the 1500 m.

The 126th running of the Relays will see the introduction of an elite level Olympic Development program, with the Friday evening session headlined by the men’s 4 x mile relay and the women’s 4 x 800 m relay. There will also be individual Olympic Development hurdle and sprint events on the Saturday afternoon, alongside the high school and collegiate Championship of America finals.

“The Penn Relays is very excited to return in 2022 and partner with On to reinvigorate one of the most exciting track and field meets in the world. I’m excited to see the experiences they’ll amplify for those competitors, along with our spectators and fans.” Scott Ward, Executive Director of the Penn Relays

We’ll also be bringing the movement and energy the event is synonymous with into our very own pop-up shop in Carnival Village, where all our latest gear will be on display – as well as a very special new product…

Who’ll be standing on the coveted podium this year? You can keep up with all the action over on our Instagram from April 28th.
