On October 6th, 2017, the Portland running and art communities came together to run in support of the Portland Street Art Alliance and Forest For The Trees, two local non-profits working to fill the city with incredible art. More than 220 runners laced up On running shoes, taking to the streets and bridges of Portland, touring the city’s best art, and exploring the intersection of art and running. The unusually clear, rainless Fall evening run in Portland culminated with live music by The Essentials, food, drinks, and a live painting by local artist Sloane Leong. On this evening, both runners and artists shared a powerful experience that left both groups feeling like they were running on clouds.
“The purpose of these art runs is to explore commonalities between the artist and the runner and to be able to offer an experience that puts fun center stage,” said Brad Pankey, On’s Experiential Marketing Producer who helped organize the event. “Both are striving to find meaning in, and success from, their respective challenges, and both seem to emerge stronger from this process.”
The Art Run in Portland was On’s third of the year after two successful events LA and San Francisco. The final On Art Run of 2017 was held on Chicago, IL on October 24th to support the Chicago Design Museum.
