An Olympian - European triathlon champion - legend. Competing in over 55 official ITU events, David has conquered the world of triathlon. With a focus now on longer distances, such as the 65km trail race of Reunion Island, David proves once again he is a man of many incredible talents.
How did you start running? At college on Reunion Island. When I was 12 I competed for the X-Cross Championship leading to triathlon.
Why do you run now? Because it has become my job! But I feel free and achieve a sense of accomplishment from it, as well as the chance to explore the world around me.
What has been the most important race you’ve run to date? A 65-km trail race on my Island, as it is a very long time to be running with so many mental changes of state…
What is your pre-race ritual? Some yoga posturing and stretching the morning of the race.
What do you think about while running? To be relaxed while never stopping exploring the world around as I go.
What is your go to training meal? Ham and cheese sandwich or an omelet on bread.
What song is your go to for the run? No music when I run, but on the bike, it’s usually a podcast.
What is your passion next to endurance sports? The financial market.
Who would you be if you weren’t a professional athlete? Rastaman musician.
What does no one tell you about being a professional athlete?
That you’re training every single day - whatever the weather may be outside.
What advice do you have for someone who wants to follow in your footsteps? To never give up, use proper motivation and keep going never looking back.
