Q&A with David Hauss
How did you start running? At college on Reunion Island. When I was 12 I competed for the X-Cross Championship leading to triathlon.
Why do you run now? Because it has become my job! But I feel free and achieve a sense of accomplishment from it, as well as the chance to explore the world around me.
What has been the most important race you’ve run to date? A 65-km trail race on my Island, as it is a very long time to be running with so many mental changes of state…
What is your pre-race ritual? Some yoga posturing and stretching the morning of the race.
What do you think about while running? To be relaxed while never stopping exploring the world around as I go.
What is your go to training meal? Ham and cheese sandwich or an omelet on bread.
What song is your go to for the run? No music when I run, but on the bike, it’s usually a podcast.
