These shoes have been great. When I started running with these I realized my knee and back pain went away. Later on I injured my foot and these are now the only shoes I can run in without any pain. The engineering of these shoes has saved my back, knees, and feet allowing me to still enjoying running without the residual side effects I've had with other really great brand name shoes. I've been so pleasantly surprised, beyond what I expected a running shoe to do for me!
I got these shoes to train for a marathon. Up until then Mizunos Wave Insprie had been my go to trainer but the latest version were an awful color and I was hugely disappointed in having to replace them after 300 miles.
I ended up choosing the on Cloudflyers and I am so glad I did. My first run in them happened to be a half marathon. I would normally not break in a pair of shoes on a longer run or a race, but they made my feet happy!
I went on to train for my latest marathon with these and on race day opted to run in the cloudflyers as well. They are light but still offer the stable ride I need. This was my fourth marathon and the recovery time following this race was the shortest I've ever needed. Definitely an ON convert.
I was recently training for the 2016 SF 1/2 marathon with some difficulty. A foot injury combined with competitive dancing had left me unable to wear the same brand of shoes I had previously raced in a couple of years ago, and I never imagined it could be so difficult to find the right shoe for my body mechanics. I was excited to get back to running, but in the 2 months prior to my event, I went through 3 pairs of shoes and still could not comfortably complete greater than 10 miles by the week prior to my race. My calf strain was so bad that I was only getting 1 training run in per week and I hoped to still finish. I had researched this brand on-line and I really liked the design concept, but didn't seek them out in a nearby store due to time constraints with the upcoming race.
I finally (by chance) saw the shoes in person at the Expo on the day prior to my race. I am a sports Chiropractor and have been in practice for nearly 20 years. I have made numerous sets of custom casted orthotics for patients and I understand biomechanical issues. So when I inspected the design of this shoe in great detail and tried them on my foot, I was sold. I then proceeded to run an entire race the next morning in a shoe I had never worn before, which is something I would have *never* considered if my other options hadn't failed me so miserably and I was simply out of time to try anything else. I tried the shoe on once and immediately knew that my prospects had just gotten better.
I finished. No calf pain. No strain. Minimal muscle soreness. No blisters, wear on my heels or hot spots. No exaggerated pronation/supination, and no knee pain. I ran comfortably for 13.1 miles without any pain after not being able to complete my last few weeks of training runs. Thank you for designing a shoe that provides light stability for pronation but still has a neutral foot bed, can accommodate an orthotic without over-correction, has plenty of room in the toe box and just enough forefoot to rear-foot differential that it encourages proper foot strike without fatiguing the calf muscles. BRAVO!!! Thanks a million.
