An innovative lacing conforms to the foot via a inner sheath before connecting with the upper over the bridge of the foot, providing even distribution without pressure points. A customized soft collar of memory foam ensures comfortable hold around the heel and ankles.
The Cloudcruiser offers the ideal level of stability for long-distance runners or high-impact runners who want to build endurance on and off the road. For runners who just want a bit more “shoe” on their foot but without the extra weight. It strikes the right balance between protection and lightweight.
All types of runners, high-impact runners, long-distance runners.

The Cloudcruiser offers outstanding impact protection and takes full advantage of the patented CloudTec® system with 15 high-profile “Cloud” elements and a flexible midsole giving you both a cushioned landing and a powerful takeoff. All this, so you can run as hard as you like.
“We wanted to create a running shoe that combines great comfort and protection in a light package”, explains Co-Founder and 6-time Ironman Champion Olivier Bernhard. “We have developed high-impact outsole elements, a flexible Speedboard in the midsole and a progressive lacing system to bring the very best of On’s technology to the Cloudcruiser.”
Even as a stability running shoe, it helps the foot find its own natural running style. The responsive midsole, with its flexible Speedboard, has been uniquely tuned to provide a natural rolling motion. It even forgives the occasional misstep – both on and offroad.
I am not a runner. However, I bought these shoes to walk all over Ireland and handle the impact of my heavier frame. I love these shoes. My only complaint- the laces are very thin and constantly loosen up. I have to re-tie them every 20 minutes. Could this be solved with a thicker lace?
First, I want you to know that I am an online buyer and shopper and have been more then please with “ON” online operations. I wanted to wait after years before I gave my product review rather then give a premature review. My first pair of "ON" was the blue/red Cloudcruiser and I loved them so much that I all so brought the Grey & Ink Cloudcuiser months later because I though were a more stylish. Wintertime was approaching so I the brought Cloudrunner Winter Edition at the same size but the shoes were too tight due to the insulation so I returned them for a refund with the prepaid shipping label that they emailed me and it was a smooth and easy transition by mail (I ware a size 12.5 US and 46 ERU but “ON” 12 US are a perfect fit for me). As for now I am 1 month into my newly acquired all black Cloud and I love them.
Secondly, on a personal note, I am a life long and avid runner, and about 10 miles to 15 miles a day for about 4 days a week and 15(+) miles once or twice a week. Throughout the year I try to take advantage of some marathons if time permits. I work in the airline industry so I may find myself using my “ON” shoes clawing up a hill in San Francisco, Boston, Denver, Los Angeles, Paris, London, or Hawaii with ease. On the hot summer days my “ON” are bouncing on the hot pavement in Atlanta, Dallas, Vegas, Phoenix, and some cities in Mexico. This shoe gives me an extra energy bounce and allows my feet to hit the pavement without stress. If you are like me, when you are running, and you hit mile 20 you can feel your feet kind of drag, but not with these shoes. These shoes have held up to the surface beating and I do not see any true sign of ware and tare. In addition to, I love walking in them for every day use.
Finally, the shoes are awesome in ideal/controlled environments and I love the way they perform on pavement. If the surface becomes wet they becomes slippery while running in these shoes. A few times I was wearing my Cloudcruiser and it started to rain. When I got out of my car and walked into the grocery store, which has tile flooring, and I had to walk gingerly throughout the store because my shoes were slippery. When I run in within cities like Toronto, Zurich, Philadelphia, or Chicago during the winter months I use caution when running if I think there is an hint of a frozen surface or black ice due to slippage more then my other running shoes. I still think that they are one of the best shoes out there for pavement, but things are slippery when they become wet and this is important. Because of the wet surface problem I will not make them my all around primary running shoe, but I still love my "ON's." I will continue to buy “ON” shoes and eagerly wait and watch as the shoe evolves and become the top shoes of choice for elite runners.
Hopefully you can find some of the things that I said helpful although I am not the best typist, nor elite runner. I am just someone that live run and run to live.
